Registration
Welcome to Commerce City Schools! For your convenience, registration packets are available at the Central Office, located at 270 Lakeview Drive, and Commerce High School, located at 272 Lakeview Drive, Commerce, Georgia. Please contact the system administrative secretary, Angie Ingram, at (706) 335-5942. Registration will be by appointment ONLY. Appointments may be made between 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Entering kindergarten and first grade: According to Georgia law, children must be five years old by September 1st in order to enroll in kindergarten and six years old by September 1st to enroll in first grade. The only exceptions are students who were legal residents in another state for a period of two years prior to moving to Georgia and: (1) are age five by December 31st and who attended an accredited kindergarten in another state may enroll in public kindergarten, or (2) students who are six by December 31st and who attended an accredited school in another state may enroll in first grade.
Children in need of services due to non-traditional housing must contact our System Homeless Liaison, Dr. Joy R. Tolbert at (706) 335-5500.
Registration Requirements: Who may register the student? The biological, foster or adoptive parent should enroll the student. If the student is not living with the biological, foster or adoptive parent, a temporary guardianship form must be obtained from the Probate Court or the guardian must have a court order to allow the student to register. A photo ID will be required for parents and guardians.
Commerce City Schools must have ALL REQUIRED information listed below for students to be enrolled:
Copy of Birth Certificate; Social Security Card / Waiver Form; Withdrawal Form; Georgia Immunization Certificate; Discipline and Criminal Record Inquiry; Grade Report; Special Education Records; Attendance History; Guardianship Paperwork and Picture ID; Proof of Residency; Certificate of Ear, Eye, and Dental Examination; Student Registration Form; Household form; Authorization for Release of Student Records; Contract for Out-of-District Students; Home Language Survey; Migrant Form
Forms needed for the required information are included in the registration packet.
Provisional enrollment may be granted for 30 days until all documentation can be received. If the required information is NOT RECEIVED within 30 days, the STUDENT WILL BE WITHDRAWN.
